Compassion Closet
Clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." Colossians 3:18b
Mission - Compassion Closet strives to meet a basic need of community members, with the love and compassion God has demonstrated. We provide quality clothing free of charge, therefore allowing them to better focus on additional necessities in their lives.
We open our doors twice a month to individuals throughout the White County area. There are no eligibility requirements. Each month, we typically assist over sixty families. In partnership with New Horizons International Ministries church, Food Pantry, Community Life Skills Outreach Center, and other organizations, we are able to support community members in multiple aspects.
Donations - Compassion Closet operates solely on donations received. We are always accepting gently-used and clean clothing, shoes, accessories, new socks, new undergarments, outerwear, and small housewares.
Volunteers - We are volunteer-driven and we welcome individuals and groups to:
- Sort and hang items
- Clean and organize
- Assist clients during operating hours
Food Pantry
Mercy is love that seeks to lessen the difficulties and hardship of others.
Everyday, families in our community choose between buying food and paying bills, medicine or rent. NHIM Food Pantry fills an important gap for hundreds of families, children, homeless and elderly. The Food Pantry serves White County and surrounding areas by giving hope to the hopeless.
For I was hungry and you gave me food... Then the righteous will answer Him, saying when did we see you hungry?...And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch you did to one of the least of these, my brethren, you did it to me." Matthew 25:35-40
